An ovation is rousing, prolonged applause. It's a display of public homage or welcome. More than enthusiastic hand-clapping, it's a way of rewarding hard work, showing gratitude, or offering praise. Ovations celebrates the unfinished script of life, where the earth is the stage and people are the stars.
Hey Mrs. Bass, Thanks for your comment on our JIA blog (Journey Into America)! That's a great question. But I've always preferred Oscar Wilde's point of view (from his Preface to The Picture Of Dorian Gray): "It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors."
I feel like I've never been to this blog before. ::adds to Google Reader:: I'll be back!
AJ-Thanks for stopping by Ovations. I think you'll be right at home here. It's been so long since I read THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY, I'd forgotten about that quote. Nice.
